Mr. Arun Bharath, IRS IRS, Commissioner of Income Tax, Chennai. Mr. P. Velrasu, Mr. P. Velrasu, IAS IAS, Collector & District Magistrate, Thane, was the Chief Guest, who launched the website of DTMS – dtmslive.com.
The function started at 6.00 p.m. and after the traditional lamp was lit by Mrs. Vasumathi Raja, Mrs. Shenbagavalli Ramesh Babu, Mrs. Jaya Rathinam, Mrs. Mary Rajeshwary; our Tamil class students presented the song Tamil Thai Vaazthu.
Mr. Chellappa, Mr. Chellappa secretary of DTMS had delivered the welcome speech, Mr. Thirunavukkarasu Mr. Thirunavukkarasu president of DTMS addressed the gathering and Poet Senthur Nagarajan read out a praising poem about DTMS. Mr. Nanthagopal, Mr. Nanthagopal Treasurer of DTMS read out the Annual Report. Mr. S Kumanarajan, Mr. Kumanarajan Chief Editor of Tamil Lemuria presented the Vazhthurai. Both Mr. Arun Bharat, who chaired the function, as well as Mr. Velrasu, who was the Chief Guest, delivered short speeches. Mr. Arun Bharath praised DTMS for its activities and gave a cheque of Rs. 5,000/- for the Building Fund.
The cultural programmes followed immediately thereafter and the first item was a traditional drama titled THAMIZHTHAAI where the stage turned out to be the courtroom of Chola King. This was followed by a few dance recitals by children of DTMS members. Out of the two other dramas, the one titled “Uzhavan Kanakku Paarthaal” was an eye-opener in which the role of a plough-man so amazingly depicted by our President Thiru. Thirunavukkarasu fetched grand applause from the audience.
DTMS awarded prizes to the toppers of 10th & 12th students. Crutches were gifted to a physically challenged person. Prof. Tulasi Edwin brilliantly did the compeering job for the function. The celebrations lasted for about three hours and as always a feast was arranged for all our members. Mr. George Chandran gave the thanks giving speech and the celebrations concluded with that.
